Vs. Bat

Martial Fowl

Versus

Big Bat

They're in the Big Bat's home turn, but the Martial Fowl seems ready to go, even upside-down and a bit dazed from the blood rushing to his head.

Monk (sticker)

And here is our finally entry, the Martial Artist. I didn't want to use Monk, not out of a need to not match D&D, but because I like wuxia stuff and the monk is too specific for my taste. Not that many single word options though. Final Fantasy used Blackbelt and I saw a couple used something as vague as Expert. My reliable standby Dragon Quest used Martial Artist...

I went ahead and used the gold and red Shaolin colors on the chicken's vague gi though so that's vaguely acknowledging it I suppose.

With this, for now, this project is done. At least until I'm actually selling stickers.

Round Warrior

Despite its large girth the round warrior had trained tirelessly day in and day out so that no matter what befell it there would still be a chance for survival.

In the end both the ground and sky were stained with the blood of its enemies.

Martial

The design and aesthetic for this was arbitrary and made up as I went, but it kind of, vaguely, resembles a like Chinese martial artist. Or maybe not at all? Whatever it is, this is it.

Jump Kick

The big bird was a real trouble maker. It had already killed the chickens companions, but after observing a wandering martial artist training the chicken mastered the jump kick. It was a technique that is absolutely not suited for a chicken, but even so it was a path to revenge.

Blind Blue

A blind master of bird martial arts. Despite being unable to see or fly this is the bravest of birds.

Blue Kung Fu

Some random chicken person in a gi and headband is a core part of 80s American culture.

So, here's a nice blue one.

HD Background May 2016: Blind Martial Fowl & Kung Fu Chicken vs Ninjas

So, in March I said I was going to do one of these a month for a while, but I forgot to do one last month. Regardless of that here is the background for this month.

In this piece the illustrious Blind Martial Fowl teams up with Kung Fu Chicken to face off the oncoming waves of ninjas. Ninjas are still good, right? I know normally waves are mostly of zombies or such these days but ninjas seemed like a better match for Martial Artists.

You can download this, and many other wallpapers, from this post on my Patreon.

Martial Training

After a youth of indulgence by he and his clutch mates were left in an awful debt. Unable to receive the support of their flock the youth stepped on a path of Martial Training to repay the debts of his clutch and find a higher place within the flock

Since I've been doing this forever pretty much everything reminds me of something, and since I've been doing this so long a lot of the time the older piece looks terrible to me. So, as my throw back here's Kung-Fu Comeback. I think I did a much better job of the pose this time.

Chicken Pecs

He has trained in an ancient bird based martial technique. It has twisted his muscles to render the utmost force. Users of that secret technique could be identified by the distinctive Chicken Pecs.

Man this one is painful...

Duel in the Light

I actually did two pieces last week and just kinda... didn't get around to posting them... So here's the first one. It's just a fine work of vibrant color and conflict. I kind of just feel like this is a standard piece in the collection that showcases the normal style of the site.

Also is Duel in the Dark a phrase? This was meant to contrast that in title, but it turns out Duel in the Dark is just some WWII war game. It's not even something I've played so I'm not sure why I got that stuck in my head. Still sounds nicely dramatic though.

Fried Golden

This mighty fowl is a glorious golden-brown color, proving that without a doubt he has been perfectly cooked... Why don't you look like you believe me? Why else would he be that color?

Gritty Martial Artist

The battles had been going for so long now. His talons were stained with blood and it was hard to even think he had the right to stand in the light of the world anymore. In that moment he realized that something else was coming.

This is the return of what has been called my signature style, the Gritty Sharpness. I don't use it very often because, well, black and white feels kind of lazy.

Martial Arts Master Red

Standing in the corner Red defeated anyone who came toward him. There had been dozens of them and as each was bested he scratched a mark in the wall with his talon. Some day a truly fierce foe would arrive and he would have the thrill of his life.

Kung Fu Chicken Ninja Cat

Ninja Cat tried to avoid the devastating attack launched by the Kung Fu Chicken by creating a shadow clones, but the Kung fu Chicken's aim was true. In an instant the battle was settled.

Kicks

The blind and deaf martial artist chicken has been in training for years. Without further guidance all he can do in continue to practice his kick in the darkness.

In this piece I attempted to work with some perspective to emphasize the kicking leg, but as often happens with such attempts I used enlargement, which makes it look like one giant leg. With no background or shading it was hard to create the illusion of depth in the 2D plane.

Please Don't Die

He looks like he's going to kill you, but really he's just hoping you don't get yourself hurt too badly. He pleads, "Please Don't Die!" as he attacks you.

Kung Fu Again

Yes, I decided that we needed another round of Kung Fu Chicken, The Chicken Who Lives In The Sky Of Swirls. (You know. That's the full title that ain't ever getting used.) So, Yeah. I remade the Kung Fu Chicken... Again, once more. He's way cool and anyways I needed him to be more established for if I need him later. No, I dunno what I would need him later.

Kung-Fu Comeback!

Well, I decided to let the Kung-Fu Chicken make a comeback because I wanna watch the Karate Kid(Starring  Will Smith's son and Jackie Chan) some time. Maybe when it shifts into the Dollar Theater in a month or so I'll catch it. Anyways... WHA-CHA! Kung-Fu Chicken is deep in his training. Balancing himself on a log sticking out of the sea. He ain't even near any docks or anything like that. He stands strong against the striking world of swirls he lives in.
