Kamina

Everybody loves giant robots and pointy sunglasses, so let's resume my anime reference series with Kamina, hero of Gurren Lagaan. He believes in the you who believes in him who believes in you.

While we reminisce here's a picture of Bantamweight, a chicken monster from Dragon Quest IV.

Detective Conan – Anime Chickens
By
Chicken Maker
7:37 PM
It's just my imagination, a sort of empty concentration... I don't remember the rest of the theme song but it's in English. Detective Conan is an endlessly running detective series. By its nature horrible murders keep happening around the young detective.
Unrelated to the Anime Chickens I think I will be drawing the Barbarian-type Conan soon.

Sailor Moon - Anime Chickens
By
Chicken Maker
6:05 PM
There's a trending twitter art thing to redraw sailor moon. I, of course, did this years ago. That's no reason not to do it again though, especially since I decided to make a series of "anime chickens" at the beginning of the month and only had one so far.

Vegeta - Anime Chickens
By
Chicken Maker
9:13 PM
A few months ago on Twitter I said I'd draw some anime characters as chickens but then I didn't.
So here's Vegeta. The classic short arrogant alien monkey prince. I did my best to capture his hair and attitude. The character wears blue tights, but tights seem awkward over feathers...

Koke koke koke kokko~
Dastardly fiends show fear.
Magical Pullet Kokekokko is here!
As a reminder for fans that don't recall me explaining this 5ish years ago Kokekokko is a Japanese onomatopoeia equivalent of cluck. A pullet is a young female chicken, or a girl.

Power Up

More sprite work. This chicken is powering up so he has a glowy blue aura. I decided he may as well also have a gold combed "super saiyan" version since I was doing it anyways.

Card Games
By
Chicken Maker
6:03 PM
You may recall that about 2 weeks ago I told you that I was working on a card game. In this post I will have some follow-up on that. But first check out this card game anime chicken. Feel free to consider this a parody of YuGiOh, Cardfight Vanguard, Duel Masters, YuGiOh and other such shows. I think it looks pretty good. The plot is simple. He draws a card, immediately plays it, and wins to the irritation and confusion of his competitor. Probably also saves the world somehow.
Now, back to my other thing. In Chicken Maker Card Game, which really needs a better name, there are 3 kinds of cards. Leaders, Support, and Flash. Leader Cards only have an effect when they are in the Leader position. Support Cards only have an effect if they are in the Support Position and Flash Cards have an effect when played at any time or when used int he support position. Now you can put support cards in Leader positions or Leaders in Support position, though there isn't much point in the latter aside from a couple of specific cards. Anyways I need to make more cards. Right now I only have 36 of them and I want each player to have at least a 20 card deck.

2 Anime Chickens
By

There was a request for two anime chickens and I quote "Fighting or something." I decided to go with or something and draw a smooch. This is obviously the main character and that jerk bad boy that woos her in one of those girl shows.

Witch Chicken Mayu
By
Chicken Maker
12:44 AM
This piece was specially produced for a friend from Japan called Mayu. Or rather I was informed that I would be drawing "Witch Chicken Mayu" as a joke and then did it anyways because that's simply how I've generally worked isn't it? So, Started with Witch, which is pretty clear with the hat and broom, chicken slid in with the... chicken. She's a cheery girl so I tossed in a rainbow and I looked up Japanese onomatopoeia, and that is one. It is apparently pronounced "koke-kokko" according to the article.

This is a lady from an anime. That's not really accurate per say. I mean it's just a lady chicken with an anime eye, but I was looking at that lady from Captain Harlock whose name I can never remember so I suppose it's based on that. I mean I even put the skull and crossbones on the shoulder.

Gotta Catch 'em All. Gotta Catch 'em All.
The new Pokemon came out today and being a 5 years old child I bought it when the store opened and played it all day with my buddies.
Well, after we went out to breakfast and enjoyed I a tasty tasty chicken fired steak. Those are delicious.
I'm allowed to blog about my day from time to time, right? I mean I usually don't but I think it's okay to share my day on occasion.

Yeah. Could barely even make a variant on that one. I tried but it turned into a mess so just left it with the change on the first line. Forgive the golden hair. Just didn't look Sailor Moon-like enough without the yellow twin tails. At first I just gave her a red comb. (Which is still there, just recolored.) The eyes were hard, but I actually really like them. I may use them again in the future.

Study!
By
Chicken Maker
10:34 PM
Just reminding me to study hard in school.
Also I wanted to draw some of them swirly anime glasses.
The layers of the image are 4: Lorem Ipsum. Rattling about Charged Particles. Math symbols. Chicken.
I think the chicken looks like a fairly well groomed guy, but he doesn't do much hanging out I'd say. I mean he takes care of his personal hygiene, but he has no flare. He's a busy guy.

CHICKEN RIDER KICK!
By
Chicken Maker
8:38 PM
This Henshin hero is unleashing a crowing kick at his foes.
Anyways the Kamen Rider series has a sort of broken nostalgia for me. I loved the TERRIBLE Masked Rider show that was on Fox at the same time as Power Rangers. (I've seen it since. Was running on pure nostalgia.) But I watched some of the actual ones and I rather like them. Got a good number of explosions and fights and what not.
You know a Kamen Rider(that's foreign for Masked Rider) was a lot harder to do than a Power Ranger. These guys have almost no consistency. Pretty much belts, bikes, that muscle looking armor(usually), and their traditional finishing move of a RIDER KICK!(which is fancy talk for jump kick and what I drew)

His mighty Chicken Zord transforms into a powerful weapon, giving the Mega-Zord of his series a new finishing move so the show can pick up a bit of unpredictability. You know, so you can wonder what move they'll use to finish off the giant monster. For that matter the Chicken Zord is probably strong enough to make a kill on its own. You know, like the Dragon Zord was.
The title is a reference to the Japanese Original, Super Sentai, which titles it's shows as follows: Noun Sentai Something-ger (for example the original power rangers was made using footage from Kyōryū Sentai Zyuranger, which translates, roughly, to Dinosaur Squadron Beast-ranger) I mean Power Rangers: Subtitle just doesn't have as much force. Also gratuitous English is cool in Japan(perhaps you noticed the English word Super) sort of like how French is sexy in America.

Today I've got a new original Power Ranger. He is the Brown Chicken Ranger. I styled him after the good old Power Rangers that were on TV when I was a kid, and are strangely enough being re-shown this year. Now I imagine he is the kind of Ranger that shows up half through the series and is way stronger than everyone else. I mean that or the leader, but the leader's red. You can't mess up the formula like that after all.

This one came out a little poorly, well really I guess I just didn't center the head well. I never would have redone it though so I'm posting it now. Anyways it's got a Gundam-style V on it's forhead to make it clear that it was a giant robot. Then I gave it the pointy comb and waddle to give it a mechanical feel. The beak came out rather nicely I think. The head I put a good amount of effort into but I was totally half assed when I did the body. And of course he has a mono-eye so he's probably some sort of bad guy.
Anyways I was gonna call it Chik-dam, after Gundam, which was the main design influence, but I decided on Chicker-Robo, after Getter Robo, which t doesn't look like at all but the Robo has a more generic use and it sounds better. There were a few others I considered but they weren't that great, except maybe Chicken-Zord, ala Power Rangers.
And I jsut realized I already posted something today. Well whatever... Oh right I forgot I was going to beg for comments next time I posted something... I'm too lazy to actually do it though so... I'll just toss out a little... *begs for comments*
